The Town Hall of Arzano (Naples), the province of Naples and the “SPAZIO CREATIVO” cultural association have announced the 8th edition of the International “ARZANO HUMOR CIAK” award for funny, ironic and surreal short films.
In the next edition of the “ARZANO HUMOR CIAK”, which is a true point of reference in its field, will be held in the evenings from 12th until 14th July 2008.
The short comic films which are in final will be shown the first two evenings. On the third and final evening, there will be stand-up performances by many Italian and foreigner comedians and comic actors.
Among all the films received, only 16 will be chosen to be judged by four different juries: the first is made up of specialists in the field; the second is presided by over sixty people; the third is a popular jury that will award the prize “BY PUBLIC ACCLAIM”; and the last is the Ciro Florio jury which will award the short film for “BEST TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT”.
At the festival of the 2008 edition, the following awards will be issued:

BEST DIRECTION
BEST COMIC IDEA
TECHNICAL-GERIATRIC AWARD
“BY PUBLIC ACCLAIM” AWARD
CIRO FLORIO AWARD
Only “the best short film” will be given a prize of €800.00 which will be divided in two parts in case of ex-aequo.
The competition is free and open to anyone. The short films can cover any issue whatsoever.
Requirements and conditions of participation:

1. |
The short film must last 15 minutes including opening and closing credits. For no reason shall this limit be exceeded; |

2. |
The shorts must be sent only by ordinary or first class mail and must arrive within15th June 2008;
|
|
3. |
The film can be presented in VHS, S-VHS, DVD or MINI DV support. However, DVD support is preferred; |
|
4. |
The authors of the “short films” will be invited to the festival but their travelling and overnight expenses will be at their own expense.
The winners not present at the moment of the award ceremony will be informed immediately by phone or registered mail. They will receive their prizes directly at home at the expense of the committee for “ARZANO HUMOR CIAK”; |

5. |
If the authors of the “short films” want to publish their works, they may do so on the festival’s website; |
|
6. |
The producers of the short films shown are obliged to pay at their own expense SIAE rights. At any rate, the authors taking part in the competition are not entitled to any SIAE indemnity for the showing their short films at the festival; |

7. |
All the material received will not be returned; |

The artistic director of “ARZANO HUMOR CIAK” can revoke the final results of the competition and ask awards to be returned if any irregularity is revealed in the decision of any of the juries. |
To take part in the 8th edition of “ARZANO HUMOR CIAK”, send your short film to Via F. Conforti, 4 – 80022 ARZANO (NA - Italy). The shorts must arrive by 15th June 2008.
It is possible to send, together with the short film, the biography, some photos and a filmography of the author/director and photos of the backstage at the moment of filming.
